Saw a couple of really sick concepts on Artstation this past week that reminded me of my old Klombo piece. This specific one is inspired by "Welcome Back" by Tiago Calliari; his work is incredible and really inspired me, alongside my old piece and this new season's quest logs, which mention getting to Jones. I thought this would be a perfect competition. This artwork is different from my previous Fortnite Fan Art’s. Previously, due to a lack of availability, I was required to recreate every single material, blueprint, and landscape manually, and a lengthy conversion process from the exporter back into the engine. This was an incredible learning tool, and it was great to see how the game came together through trial and error. Now, though, I can (with some manipulation) tap into the game with my assets I had previously made, and create this type of Fan Art. That doesn't always mean I didn't create materials or assets in the scene, but it does mean that a majority of the materials, asset blueprints, and character-importing work was already done for me! I am still using my tools for the extra cinematic pop, but after almost 7 years of manually porting characters, I can finally have everything, and work on top of that. Overall, it just means I can work faster and iterate more; what would take me 3-4 weeks now takes me days, and I am grateful for that.
