Have had this one sitting around on my computer for a while mostly because I didn't want to finish doing the sounds but I've finally sat down in my free time and finished it up. I did a lot of renders for this project with different styles and some lighting changes but this is what I chose as the final. The entire scene was inspired by Season 2 Ep 1 (The Siege of Lothal ) of Star Wars Rebels where you see Vader show up. I took certain liberties to just make the shot Vader only and not try to actually connect it with the show just the big warehouse complex area which I thought looked really cool. I fully made the AT-DP from scratch in blender rigged it then I painted it in Substance and also added some material variation to it in Unreal. I'm not much of a modeling guy but I got the vert count down to around 30k and also got a pretty decent uv map (ty Temi for your love and support). There was a lot of stuff I wanted to do with this sequence that I got the chance to do but due to performance couldn't add like having actual displaced warehouse floors or having real volumetric smoke. I did try to fake them to the best of my ability by using parallax and fog cards. I did get to go in and upscale the character textures and also paint over some of the in-game character textures. For both Vader and the troopers I added a little bit of dirt to the edges and slightly tweaked the roughness textures in substance also upscaled the textures. I also did some optimizing and remeshing for some Quixel textures/meshes where I stylized them more to fit the scene and also created base meshes for textures that lacked it and also made all the materials for them (I don't like the base Quixel ones). I really enjoyed making the environment for this outside/inside and creating all the material to go with it fixing animations and making the overall sequence (besides all the crashing) and I cant wait to do it again.
